Dr. Veena Sinha

Dr. Veena Sinha is a celebrated poet and novelist, known for her profound literary contributions. Born in the village of Sukuma, Bastar, in present-day Chhattisgarh, she completed her MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from Rewa Medical College. Her medical experiences, combined with societal and life events, have deeply shaped her writing.
In her distinguished medical career, she worked to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, prevent female feticide, and alleviate women's suffering in tribal and rural areas. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as State Surveillance Officer, contributing sensitively to pandemic control. She retired as Additional Director of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
A powerful and sensitive poet and storyteller, Veena has explored the intricate terrain of relationships, women's discourse, science, social disparity, nature, and human emotion. Her works have been published in prestigious national magazines and broadcast on Doordarshan and All India Radio.
The recipient of numerous literary and social awards, she is a keynote speaker at literary festivals and conferences, and a dedicated mentor to young writers. She has recently been appointed President of the Vanmali Srujan Peeth, Bhopal unit, and serves as an Advisor for the American India Foundation with the School Education Department.
